A Microkeratome instrument creates a thin, precise flap on the cornea. This flap is gently lifted to expose the inner corneal tissue.
An excimer laser (like the Alcon WaveLight® EX500) reshapes your cornea in just seconds. This corrects vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism.
The flap is carefully laid back into place, where it naturally bonds without stitches.
The whole procedure takes about 15 minutes for both eyes. Most patients notice clearer vision within 24 hours and can resume daily activities in a day or two.
